  • Survey

Prior to launching join-secretly we carried out a straw-poll on men’s online viewing habits. You may find the results of interest. Whilst waiting at London Stations men were asked ‘clipboard’ questions by women; of 243 men approached only 42 agreed to answer, of these 15 were single and 27 were married. Copy survey results available on request but briefly and with % answers averaged out:

    • Single men, 13 (86%) had visited dating sites and 2 (13%) had paid, 100% had visited an adult site 1 (6%) had paid.
    • 100% thought girls would object to them using a dating site, 8 (53%) thought girls would object to them using an adult site.
    • 12 (80%) thought discovery of using a dating site would end a relationship, 4 (26%) thought using an adult site could.
    • Asked if they could join a website secretly so as to avoid any risk none said they would consider it.
    • Married men, 3 (11%) had visited dating sites and 1 (.03%) had paid, 21 (77%) had visited an adult site and 2 (7%) had paid.
    • 100% thought partners would object to them using a dating site 21 (77%) thought partners would object to them using an adult site.
    • 25 (92%) thought discovery of using a dating site would end a relationship, 6 (22%) thought using an adult site could.
    • If they could join a website secretly so as to avoid any risk 3 (11%) said they would consider it.

What people answer to a survey and what is true may be different things but on balance it was encouraging that among married men there was a 50% rise in membership intentions if all risks were eliminated.

  • Social Media headache

The IT bods say we have to blog and have to use social media to get the word out there.  Being dinosaurs with social media it seems far from straightforward and of course the very nature of the website means nobody is going to respond as the first question their contacts and indeed partners will ask is ‘why are you looking at join-secretly?’  Its a bit like telling a room full of party-goers that you just found an appointment-card for an STD clinic and asking which one of them has lost it – no one is going to answer or even ask their friends if it was them.  They’d all stay silent.  So great strides at publicity via social media are not expected any time soon but we shall persevere.
  • Indexing

We are waiting to be indexed by Google and about to try and tell the world we exist.  A bit of a daunting task with 500 new websites a day being launched apparently.
  • Off-Line 21st

Just been informed that there will be a planned network outage on our backbone network on Monday 21st between 10pm-11:30pm due to upgrading and relocating of critical network equipment, during that time 70% of our web / email services will be offline.
  • Getting Started

Expecting to launch in a couple of weeks – now 15th September – everything takes longer than you think.
